The Research Division of the Oklahoma Historical Society will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the acquisition of the Indian Archives on Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30. The two day event will feature a workshop, a reception, two paper sessions, and a luncheon.
In addition to the individuals listed, the speakers and presenters will include Cherokee Chief Chad Smith, James Riding In, C. Blue Clark, Ph.D., Wendy St. Jean, Ph.D., Michael Lovegrove, Ph.D., Jack D. Baker, Rodger Harris, Gus Palmer, Henry Willis, Jay Hannah, Patricia Loughlin, Ph.D., Daniel Littlefield, Ph.D., David Baird, Ph.D., Ted Isham, Clyde Ellis, Mary Jane Warde, Ph.D., Tara Damron, Dennis Weidman, Ph.D., Ron Graham, and J. C. Elliott.
Among topics to be covered in the various sessions are Chickasaws in Transition in the 19th Century, Douglas Johnston, Kiowa Language, Choctaw Language, Standard Oil in Indian Territory, Meta Chestnut Sager, Tribal Songs, Collecting Oral Traditions Through Oral History, The Native American Church, Researching Freedmen Records, and Donating Your Collection to the OHS Archives.
