Hi all,

The Fort Smith National Historic Site is celebrating 50 years of telling the story by having a three day event called: Hell, Justice & Grit on the Border, on July 1-3, 2011. Several speakers are current and past Board members of Oklahombres and will include discussions of "Cherokee Lawman, Sam Sixkiller" by Catherine F. Gray; "George Maledon, Fort Smith Hangman" by Dave Turk; "Heck Thomas & The Indian Territory" by Dee Cordry; "Indian Freedmen Who Rode for Parker" by Art T. Burton; "The Trial of Jackson Crow" by Angela Walton-Raji; "Rasslin' with Law Enforcement in Indian Territory, Deputy U. S. Marshal John A. McAlister" by Mike Tower; and "The Life & Times of Deputy U. S. Marshal Heck Bruner" by Bob Ernest. Contact info: (479)783-3961 or E-mail gritconference@fmail.com. Oklahombres will have a table available to exhib our journals and we'll need helpers to man the table. Please join us for this great conference and if you can help us in maning the tables lets us know.
A full list of events should be coming soon.

Mike
