Does anyone have any information on George Mencer, a black Detective for the OK State Attorney General's Office?
A black Drumright Police Officer named Jean or Gene Jackson was arrested for his murder in July 1915. Does not say when Mencer was killed. Only that he was doing investigations for a Grand Jury.
Officer Jean Jackson was shot and killed November 29, 1916, by another black man he was trying to arrest.
Information on either officer would be greatly appreciated.
Only article found so far is from the Creek County Republican of Friday, Dec. 1, 1916, Page 1, Col. 2, "Negro Officer Killed By Another Negro", Date line of Drumright, Okla. November 29th" a Wednesday. States Jackson was shot and killed at noon Wednesday.May have been Nov 22nd.
