By way of introduction, my name's Jim Doherty. I'm a police officer in a small department north of Chicago and a free-lance crime writer. I used to post occasionally at the original Oklahmbres forum.

I met a few of you 'hombres some years ago at a weekend symposium about Marshal Bill Tilghman that was timed to coincide with the Oklahoma City premiere of TNT's film YOU KNOW MY NAME.

I'm writing now to let any of you who might be interested know that a book I've written, JUST THE FACTS - TRUE TALES OF COPS & CRIMINALS, has just been published by Deadly Serious Press. It's a collection of true crime articles. Two of the chapters, one on Tilghman and one on the Osage Indian Murder Case, might be of particular interest to members of the forum.

Glad to see the forum's back on-line. Will some of the JOURNAL articles that were once posted on-line eventually be available with this new set-up?

Maddog,

You can order it at most of the on-line bookstores. The link to the Barnes & Noble page about JTF is:

Hope you enjoy it.

I just had some good news about my book, JUST THE FACTS - TRUE TALES OF COPS & CRIMINALS, that I wanted to share.

"Blood for Oil," a chapter about the Osage Indian Murder Case, has been awarded the Western Writers of America's Golden Spur in the category of Best Short Non-Fiction.

Congratulations on acing an award. Do you have any information on Fred Barker? How do I go about giving someone who is writing a book on this gangster valuable photos and notes from a famous detective during that era. Is there some legal paper to be used to document where the information came from?
