Does any one know the procedure to obtain a copy of the paperwork that would have been submitted for an individual who received a presidential pardon? I have an ancestor who was pardoned from Leavenworth by the president in 1915.

I have a copy of the signed pardon but wondered if there was possibly other information that may be obtained?

I would suspect that this information would either be held at the Leavenworth Prison Archives at the prison or at the National Archives branch located at Kansas City in their Department of Justice Records. If they are not held there, surely the archivist at either facility would be able to help you in pointing you in the right direction.

Thank you. I will try contacting the National Archives again. When I received his prison record packet from Kansas City the only thing about the pardon in it was the signed pardon itself.
