My father worked in the Canadian Valley Bank at Asher, OK when it was robbed in early 1929. He and Matt Hampton were taken hostages.
After the robbers were brought to trial both my father and Matt Hampton testified aginst them.
I believe the robbery happen in early (Jan) 1929 although I know that the bank had been robbed before by the same men.
I am wanting to know the names of the two bank robbers.

The bank of Asher, Oklahoma was robbed by two men on January 3, 1929. They took around $2,000 and were from Maud, Oklahoma. I don't recall their names, but if you check the local newspaper acounts from Shawnee, Oklahoma it should report who was responsible.

You might also want to look at the Pottawatomie Couty Court House's records at Shawnee, to see if they have any information on your bandits. Write to the court clerks office if you can not travel there in person. The address is on the Oklahoma.gov internet site. Best of luck!

Thanks to everyone who gave me help in finding out the names of the bank robbers. Like all brainstorming, one idea leads to another.
Through the Seminole Public Library I found out that Plez Clark, Willliam Campbell and T. E. Richardson were the robbers. They were convicted of the robbery and sentenced to 15-20 years in the state pen.
