Gentlemen,
I haven't visited this site in a long time, and haven't had much contact with the Oklahombres since I spoke at your meeting at Ft. Smith a few years ago, but I'm trilled to see that Mike and Dee have both pressed on to get their books published.
The Kimes Brothers have been an interest of mine, since I grew up in Crawford county Arkansas - in Alma, just down the mountain from their home around Mountainburg and Chester.
I got to talk to a fellow whose father was a first cousin to George and Matt. He told me that it was not unusual, even up into the late '70s, for some old fellow to stop by his service ststion in Mountainburg and ask "What do you hear from cousin George? We pulled chain together in McAlester." He also told me the "real" version of Matt's escape from the Salisaw jail in '26 and the killing of George Noland in '33.
I certainly want an autographed copy of both books.

Hi Jim,

I can't speak for Dee, but "The Kimes Gang" is in it's final stages of publication. I do not have an exact date of release as the publisher hasn't told me yet, but I suspect this year some time. I missed seeing you at the B & C in May as I was told you were their selling your book. I just got Phillips new book. Hope to see you again soon.
