Below is the link to an interesting book I just found entitled In Reckless Hands: Skinner vs. Oklahoma and the Near Triumph of American Eugenics by Victoria F. Nourse. It is described as:

In the 1920s and '30s, thousands of men and women were sterilized in America, primarily prisoners and those in mental institutions. But in 1936, that threat led inmates at Oklahoma's McAlester prison to riot to protect their "manhood." The story of the riot and its aftermath unfolds here.
