Terry, tell me more about that 1923 double robbery.
I thought the 1926 Covington robberies by the Kimes brothers was the first successful double bank robbery. Henry Starr tried it in Stroud in 1915 and got shot full of holes.

Ok Dee here the story. The Daylight Double Bank robbery to place on July 12, 1923 at 2:30 in the afternoon, in Braman, Oklahoma. about 7 miles from the Kansas line. The Five bandits pulled into town driving a Hudson, Super six. Eye witnesses called it a big car. They parked out in front of two banks, the First National and the Framers State Bank. Two men went into each bank while one stayed in the car. After a while they came out , got into the car and headed northeast toward Arknasas City, Kansas, It was thought they would cross there on the Arkansas River, but they turned south of there and stopped along the River and parked the car and walked across the river into Osage county. The hudson was found by local officers of the sheriff department. It was found to be stolen from Pawhuska from a Eith Ware. But though the help of the Burns Detective agency and two of there officers a H.O. Brown of Oklahoma City and A.S. Cooper, of Kansas City, they trailed the bandits and arrested three men Lewis Comley, Neal McWhirt and Jeff T. Scott. Though them they got the names of the other two, One was Blackie Thompson and was easy to be found because he was in jail at Chichasha, under another charge of bank robbery somewhere else. The other was a man named Wilson I believe. One of the banks is still there today and you can go inside and see the vault that they locked them into. I have alot more Dee if you need all the details just let me know and i will send it to you. terry_whitehead@yahoo.com If you have any questions I might could answer I'm here and you know where to find me.
