We have a new fallen officer in Claude H McDonald a Special Detective for the Rock Island Railroad who was shot and killed March 26, 1911, in the Chickasha railroad yards.A black man named Walton "Will" Roberts confessed to the killing after he was shot May 29,1911,in the same RR yard. He also confessed to being a fugitive for killing a Tyler,TX Police Officer "several years ago".
Any additional help with naming the Tyler, Texas officer and the date plus copies of any newspaper articles, other than from The Daily Oklahoman, ref the death of McDonald would be appreciated.

Roberts may not have killed a Tyler PD officer but instead an officer in that county as Tyler is the County Seat. Texas researchers discovered that a Charles D Mitchell killed a RR officer named John Wesley Etheridge on Oct 19, 1905, at Troup, TX and he was tried in Tyler. However from court records he was sentanced to 10 years in prison. He enterdd on Dec 4, 1906, and was discharged Aug 13, 1914. It appears he could not be our Will Roberts if he did not escape the TX prison. Will keep looking for more info on a cop killer who escaped from the Tyler jail "several years" prior to March 25, 1911.

officer McDonald memorial at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-...Rid=33527640&df=all&

Also what were Roberts exact words in regard to alleged shooting In Tyler?

Since the Oklahoma killing involved a theft from a railroad car-possibly the killing was of a night watchman and or railroad man?
