Jeff Hardin was the little brother of Wes Hardin, the noted gunfighter. Jeff moved from TX to CO. about 1891 and opened a Saloon. While there he got into a gunfight with Bob Ford (the killer of Jesse James). They did a lot of shooting but both had only minor injuries.
Jeff and family then hightailed it to Oklahoma Territory (Durant) where Jeff operated another Saloon. This was about 1894-1895.

Jeff's wife, Ida Mae "Mary" Croussore, her baby and 3 small children often hid in a corn field to avoid associates of Jeff who visited their home.

Then,Ida divorced Jeff and changed their names to Davis. One son was named after the gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, b. 1889. He lived his life as J W Davis and went to the Oklahoma prison for 2 years (date and crime unknown).

Jeff Hardin returned to TX and died in a gunfight 1901.

Any facts about the Hardins or J W Davis would be appreciated.
