I am a Oklahoma town historian working with a Steven Slaughter residing in San Diego. He is trying to locate as much information about his great uncle Tom Slaughter. I see the Oklahombres Directory an article written by Ken Butler entitled "Outlaw Tom Slaughter - even his name spelled death". How do I get a copy of that article?
I sent Steve Slaughter a copy of Ken Butler's very fine story about his great-uncle, Tom Slaughter, when the article was first published; and, I also sent him a copy of the Oklahoma State Trooper Magazine a few years later when the same article was reproduced in that very fine publication.
Therefor, if you need a copy of the article for your personal use, I would suggest that you ask Steve to send you a copy from his file.
Thank you so much. The last I heard from Steve he was wanting to find out something about a bank robbery in Frederick, Oklahoma. Evidently Tom Slaughter might have been involved in it. The town of Frederick has a message board. I have a message on it at present time. Thanks again for your information Robert Cooper, Sr. Historian, Turley, Oklahoma
If you decide to request a copy of the Tom Slaughter story from Steve (the grandnephew), ask him for the "revised" account that appeared in the Oklahoma State Trooper Magazine; because, it contains several "corrections" from the original article, and some additional Tom Slaughter escapades in Oklahoma.
If you have any problem obtaining a copy of the article, re-post here and I'll send you a copy.
I too am related to Tom Slaughter on my Mothers side. I have been trying to get the info regarding Tom but have been unsuccessful. Would someone e-mail the story to me at hsmith6@sc.rr.com or if thats not possible, forward a revised copy to Harold Smith, 2983 Cedar Creek Run, Little River, Sc 29566. Thanks mucho!
I am doing some research for a daughter (by second marriage) of Slaughter's wife, Mabel May Murphy. Is there a place where the Oklahombre article is posted online? Or, can it be emailed? Thanks, Vic
