Creek County Arrest Records

I am doing research on an Oklahoma character who supposedly was arrested in Drumright, OK sometime in 1915 or 1916. As most know, "The Hump" was an infamous gambling/drinking joint at Drumright.

My question is this: If a person were arrested at "The Hump", went to court and a disposition made during court, would the record of this be at the Courthouse in Sapulpa.

I know that Creek County has three courthouses (Sapulpa, Drumright, Bristow). The courthouses in Drumright and Bristow were not built until 1922, and from what informaiton I can gather, no effort was made to transfer records prior to 1922 to the Drumright and Bristow courthouses.

I want to make a run up to Sapulpa to see what I can find, but would like to have thoughts of anyone who has done research in the Creek County Courthouse records around the 1915-1916 timeframe. Suggestions/comments.

Hi,

Start with the Sapulpa Public Library as they have old court docket books in their stacks.

I was reading a great book recently that dealt a lot with the people, place and time frame you are searching for:

Oil, Wheat & Wobblies: The Industrial Workers of the World in Oklahoma, 1905-1930
Nigel Anthony Sellars

I was actually doing a little bit of research myself on The Hump and this book alludes to it frequently.
