My book "Alive If Possible, Dead If Necessary" includes detailed information on the Kimes gang, as does "The Kimes Gang" by author Mike Koch. The two brothers, Matt and George, and their "gang" robbed banks during 1926 and 1927. The bank robberies most likely were not always committed by the same people. One of the names frequently associated with the Kimes brothers was Ray Terrill. However, Terrill claimed that he was a night-time bank robber (burglar) while the Kimes boys were daylight bank robbers. Terrill denied being a member of their gang.

Hi,

Along with the two books mentioned, "Mean Men" by Robert Winter and "Black Gold & Red Lights" by Jerry Sinise have information on the Kimes Gang.

The "Roy Kimes" mentioned in these postings was Roy Eugene Kimes - born 1913 in Blue, OK - son of George Columbus Kimes and Eula Gertrude Brazzell. he was related to the "Kimes Brothers" of the book.
ROy Kimes was a notorious hoodlum - in and out of prison for many years from 1930's - 1960's. His criminal record in Dallas is lengthy and he was a friend of Jack Ruby, the man who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald, according to the Warren Commisison investigation.
Just a few months prior to Kimes' death he took Ruby by car from TX to see a motel in OK. Kimes wanted Ruby to buy the motel for him to operate, but the deal didn't go through.
Roy Kimes was involved with the "Dallas Mafia" - B & B Vending Company of Dallas. The company ran Pool Tables, Cigarette Machines and other coin-operated machines in every bar, billiard hall and night club in the Dallas area until the late 1960's.
Roy Kimes was killed the night of June 8, 1963 while attempting to rob
(some say it was a burglary) a grocery store in Kiowa City OK. The store owner shot him to death. His accomplices were apprehended.
He was married to Maragert Louise Douglas and had 2 children in TX at the time of his death. Wink
