Does anyone know of any decent detailed maps of Tulsa and the surrounding communities (particularly West Tulsa & Red Fork) from around 1910? I'm hoping that someone has ran across a few.

I'm trying to figure out exactly where the Frisco tracks ran between West Tulsa & Red Fork, and what the relative boundaries of each community were at that point in time (roughly December, 1910).

In a nutshell, I have a little bit of a family mystery that I'm trying to track down. My great-grandfather (Lawrence W. Bewley).was an early Tulsa policeman from 1914-30, and on the Tulsa Sheriff's Dept until 1937. His brother, Marvin, was found dead on the Frisco railroad tracks approx 1 mi. south of West Tulsa on Nov 28 1910. His head was crushed, and no one was quite sure if it was murder or a drunken accident.

If it wasn't for some phrases in some family letters like ".. Lawrence's horror at causing the death of his brother", I probably wouldn't be quite so curious. Newspaper articles have given me quite a bit of detail, but I still don't know exactly where his body was found. Given the landmarks that are left, I'm assuming that it's roughly where 31st street intersects the big bundle of tracks on the west side, but I could be totally off base.

So, if anyone knows of a good source for a 1910ish map of the western portion of Tulsa that shows train tracks, I'd love a kick in the right direction.

Oh, and for anyone with an interest in Tulsa police badges, a scan of my great-grandfather's Tulsa police dept badge is at visible at
L.W. Bewley's TPD Badge
The scan's a little large (262k), but considering my lack of photographic aptitude, it's a miracle it's there at all. Smile
