I have read Ron Morgan's previous book and also his articles in the Oklahombres Journal. So I expect that this new book will be excellent. I am looking forward to seeing it.

Hey!! I have also read Jim Knight's Book on Bonnie and Clyde. Alot of new facts, alot of good research.
20's Bandit fans need to also read Robert Unger's "The Union Station Massacre". A well researched book on a contreversial event.... |

Haven't seen it yet but there's another new book on the Barrow gang, which Jim Knight and other U.S. researchers contributed to, which from all I've heard is also excellent. Titled "On the Trail of Bonnie and Clyde, Then and Now" and edited by Winston Ramsey. Published by After the Battle in UK, with 300 pages and over 800 photos but very substantial text--not just a picture book. Price is steep ($59.95) but by all accounts well worth it and can be ordered shipping-free from Jim Knight.

Mike,
Please reread my posting. I was clearly referring to the Ramsey book, not Jim Knight's. Copies of both books are available from Knight, though. Rick |

Hi Rick,
I was not confussed, but a couple of other people that contacted me that read your posting apparently was. I was just trying to give them information on both books as they are both available now. Sometimes we hear from individuals that are requesting things from us which somebody has already E-mailed others about, and for some reason, just don't understand it. These people thought Jim's book was priced at $59.00. So, just thought I would clear up their misunderstanding via OklahombreS web page as this was where the information originated from. |

Hi Mike,
Sorry about that & thanks for clarifying. And I have to agree with the previous posts that Jim Knight's book is excellent. Rick |

Hi Rick,
No problem, I was just trying to help out some people who may purchase Jim's book as I did! |

Just got Ramsey's new book on Bonnie and Clyde and it is well worth the price. Most detailed account I've seen on the Barrow gang. Also coming in the near future are the prison memoirs of Blanche Barrow, edited by John Neal Phillips.

Another new book which may be of interest is Alcatraz: A Definitive History of the Penitentiary Years by Michael Esslinger. At 450 pages, with hundreds of photos, this is the definitive account on "the Rock." With an extensive bibliography and index but largely based on Bureau of Prison and FBI records and on interviews with many former Alcatraz officials and inmates. Many Oklahoma area outlaws ended up on Alcatraz, including "Machine Gun" Kelly, Albert Bates, and most of the Barker-Karpis gang, as well as Barrow gang associate Floyd Hamilton, the "Irish" O'Malley gang, and Ralph (Raymond) Roe and Ted Cole, the first so-called escapees. Roe was a former associate of Wilber Underhill. The book is available from Ocean View Publishing.
