The 2012 OklahombreS Rendezvous is now set for Saturday, April 28th and will focus on the history of Belle Starr, Younger’s Bend and related subjects. The event is being co hosted by the Three Rivers Museum of Muskogee’s History Explorers Club. The event will be a great opportunity to see the newly restored Younger’s Bend property, view some historic artifacts and will include stops on the field trip that are not normally available to be seen by the public. Additionally, we will have an authentic Chuck Wagon Cookout at the end of our program in the evening at Younger’s Bend right in the midst of history.
There will be a few costs for this Rendezvous to cover expenses. The authentic Chuck Wagon cookout will be a unique function and will cost $15 per person. We are also asking that a donation of $5 be provided from our members to cover some of the additional expenses unique to this event.
Due to constraints of our meeting room, access to field trip sites, and parking at Younger’s Bend we are going to have to limit attendance to approximately 50 persons. We have already begun taking reservations for the event at the Three Rivers Museum in Muskogee with the History Explorers group and OklahombreS members. Our priority for this event will be to focus on space for these two groups. We only plan to promote the event to the general public in the last week leading up to the event if open spaces are remaining. We expect that demand would be high and fill up otherwise. As of this writing we already have about 28 confirmed for the event, tour and cookout from these two groups.
If you are an OklahombreS member and plan to attend this Rendezvous, it is now important that you contact the Three Rivers Museum in Muskogee at 918-686-6624 (Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday) or send me an email to email@example.com at the earliest so that we can properly account for your attendance and space at the Rendezvous and the Chuck Wagon Cookout.
We look forward to having a great day on April 28th and hope to see you there. If you have questions or need recommendations for lodging, please send an email to the address shown above. Additionally below is a brief schedule of our activities at present for the day (subject to change):
