I was told by my Uncle that my G-Father was born in Okmulgee, OK around 1904 and he and some others killed a man and burned his house, to keep from getting caught by the law, he changed his last name from Rains to Raines and moved to Texas. Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Thanks for any help.

In what area of the state did this killing and house burning occur in? I read a post of yours on another site and you mentioned Wewoka. Can you give any names or any other clues?

It must have been someone else's because I know nothing of Wewoka. I only know he lived in Pontotoc County and I can't find any evidence that it even occured. I searched the newspaper archves but no luck.
