I have attempted to research Mr. Singletary in the past and was able to find a short news article in the El Reno paper during the time of his death. This article basically stated that Mr. Singletary was shot and killed by Sid Davidson with more explanation then I care to share. I know a Pearl handle Colf 45 was used in the altercation. I have considerable more information regarding the person whom shot and killed Mr. Singletary. In the museum at Cordell, Oklahoma in the basements southeast corner exist some old Sheriff ledgers and reports addressing the incident at Combs and approving payment to officers in their investigation of the incident. I was surprised these records where not in the court house archives but had been placed in the museum. Mr. Singletary lived just a mile north at the top of a hill from his neighbor, Sid Davidson. From some past reports it seems this event occured during a time sidearms had just been declared illegal are improper to carry. It appears that Mr. Davidson who just the day before the incident watched his third child born and was maybe celebrating from news reports. Mr. Davidson obtained the property by the 1890 Oklahoma land rush and lived on the Elk Creek in a dugout with his wife and three children with a deed for the land granted by President William McKinley. Mr. Singletary lived on the hill just to the north meaning these men had to be neighbors for some time. Combs was within a half a mile from Mr. Singletary's home to the nothwest. Mr. Singletary is buried along with his wife at this hill top in under a lilac bush with a head stone marker. Nothing exist of Combs anymore which is just west of Sentinel, Oklahoma about five miles. Some reports, which have questionable accuracy have placed the Outlaw named Red Buck at the dugout of Sid Davidson back before this event took place. There exist in other peace officer memorials pictures of Mr. Singletary.

Thank you for the info. I was able to get Deputy Singletary added to the Nat'l Memorial in May 2005.If you have hard copy of any articles on him, or any other Oklahoma law enforcement officer who died in the line of duty, we would appreciate a copy for his permanent memorial file.
