Two questions: In looking over some of these old plats, I often see what appears to be an abbreviation "W.HO." Does anybody know what this means?
Second, I'm impressed with the level of detail these maps show, even as to ephemeral structures. How accurate they are is anybody's guess, though they're probably the best evidence we now have on the layout of many of these towns. In the maps I have, Adair in 1896 and 1898, I see corn cribs, grainary bins, sheds, weight scales, even fence lines. What I don't see is any indication of a coal shed, which in some versions of the 1892 Dalton robbery is where the officers were wounded during the battle. Given that the Sanborn Perris maps were drawn mainly for the purpose of writing fire insurance, would one not reasonably expect them to show a structure whose very purpose was to house a large quantity of combustibles (i.e. coal)? --meursault |

"W.HO." most likely would represent warehouse. I've got information on the Sanborn maps when I was researching Tombstone, A.T. I'll check my sources.
I found the maps to be highly accurate. Farron Kempton |

quote: That makes sense--thanks for your response. --meursault PS: Did I understand you to say you were onw of the actors in the video they show at the Ft. Smith NHS? I saw that during the "Descendant's Day" event. |

A small on-screen part, lol. But I also helped get the producer setting up the shoot.
"Weell, Addison's still got a couple more warrants to serve . . " All lines in the 'camp' scene were developed by the actors ourselves, an hour before we started shooting. Since we had sound, the producer says, "Hey, how about some dialog?" |
