I came across two nespaper articles that were written after Bass Reeves died. One newspaper article was from the OKC Daily Oklahoman and the other one was from a Washington D.C. newspaper. Both newsapers printing from correspondents in Muskogee, I.T., stated that Reeves had killed over twenty men during his days of service. These articles contradict earlier newspaper articles which gave the figure at fourteen. I don't think we will ever really know, but it is interesting to say the least.
I am glad that the articles restricted the figure to the number killed rather than shot. It is always nice to keep the number to a manageable figure.
