Messrs. Twyman and Vandegriff, deputy U.S. marshals, came in Saturday from Fort Sill with three prisoners, one white and two colored. Hank Jones, the white man, was charged with assault with intent to kill, and larceny - horse stealing; Bill and George Island, charged with the murder of a woman in the Creek Nation six years ago.
They also report the finding of the dead body of an unknown white man but recently killed as his horse still saddled, was grazing near by. It was found on Rock Creek, Chickasaw Nation near the residence of ex-Governor Harris, who will cheerfully aid the friends in identifying the body if possible. The body appeared to be that of a young man about 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, red hair, no whiskers probably never has shaved, weight about 140 pounds, well dressed in good black coat, black cassimere vest, and check cassimere pants. In his vest was found 40 cents in change. No paper of any description was found on his body by which he could be identified, no pocket book or firearms. He was shot in the back, the ball passing through the heart and out near the breast and dropping between the body and shirt. Messrs. Twyman and Vandegriff took his body to a house, assisted in procuring a coffin and gave it a proper burial on the bank of Rock Creek.
The horse was in good condition, sorrel; four white feet; star in forehead, about seven years old, and with the clothing has been placed in good hands and will be taken care of for the relatives of deceased if found.
