The momentum is picking up for the Bass Reeves statue initiative in Fort Smith. I will be speaking at the Fort Smith Museum on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Their will be program for Bass Reeves on January 12, 2010, the centennial of Reeves death, at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. The program will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. I will speak at this program also, Baridi Nkokheli, Bass Reeves re-enactor from Arkansas will talk about the statue initiative. Vaunda Nelson, the author of a brand new Children's book on Bass Reeves, from New Mexico, will be signing her book titled, "Bad News for Outlaws," at the program also. The Washington Post newspaper said recently that Nelson's book is one of the top ten childrens books for 2009. All the details haven't been worked out yet, but will be finalized soon. On Wednesday, February 13, I will also be speaking on Reeves at Connors State College, near Muskogee, at noon.

I have a flyer that says you'll be at Connors State College on January 13th at 11:00am not in February. Is that correct? Looking forward to seeing you and your reenactor.

That is true, I will be at Connors State College on January 13 for 11 a.m. reception and talk at noon. I hope to see you there and anyone else from eastern Oklahoma that can make it.
