Hello, I have recently purchased a nice vintage lot of great items belonging to a man named Virgil R Wilson. He was in the US Army during the Phillipine Insurrection. One of items in the lot is an old wallet with his name fancily painted inside along with the line "Deputy Marietta IT." Also, there is a stamped police badge, eagle on shield style, that is stamped Chief, Police, Wilson, Okla. Later in life, he was a performer in the 101 Ranch Wild West show, and in the Buffalo Bill Wild West show. The lot includes paperwork and photos from that time too, also his army blue wool uniform and campaign hat, very nice! Does anyone have any info about him and his time in Oklahoma? Thanks for your time. Steve

Evidently, there was a Wilson southwest of Okmulgee and a Wilson in Carter County. I am betting he was from the Wilson near Okmulgee. The town may be named for him. To be in both the 101 and Buffalo Bill Shows, he must have been quite a cowboy. I would love to find out more about him myself. Never came across the name before. Be interesting to find out if he is related to Floyd Wilson, who had quite a reputation as a deputy U.S. marshal and was killed by Henry Starr.
