When I posted on Oklahombres probably 6 years ago, my cousin George Windes was able to contact me and share information about family I never knew. We have had two family reunions now in the Checotah area, gotten our citizenship in the Creek Nation, and met even more family at the Nation. Without this website, none of that would have happened. My family is tied to events involving much of the history in the Checotah/Eufala/Dustin area from probably 1890 to 1911 when my greatgrandfather Sam Baker was killed in downtown Checotah. During the Great Depression, much of the family scattered to areas with better job opportunities. We lost contact with each other until reconnecting on the old board. Thanks again.
