There is a new book by Leon C. Metz, titled, The Encyclopedia of Outlaw, Lawmen and Gunfighters.. In the book Metz says the most deadly gunfight took place in August of 1871, in Newton, Kansas where five men were killed and three wounded. Someone please tell me who an esteemed historian of the Old West hasn't heard about the Going Snake Schoolhouse, Cherokee Nation, gunfight in April of 1872, where eleven men were killed, and more wounded. This took place during the attempted murder trial of Zeke Proctor.
