I'm looking for any information on the Wickliffe Gang of Cherokee Outlaws which existed in the Cherokee Nation during the early 1900s. They were reportedly responsible for the deaths of Deputy U.S. Marshal J.H. McVier and Ike Gilstrap. They were brothers and part of a faction of the Cherokee Nation which was hell bent on returning to the old ways. They remained on the run and out of custody until after statehood in 1907 when the turned themselves in to local, county authorities citing the claim that they would never receive a fair trial from the federal authorities. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Diron,

I have some information on them as I was preliminarily working on a story on them some time ago. There is a chapter in a book that I have here that is on this gang that you may want to look at.
