Dennis, this from the Ardmore Courier repeating a November 11Wichita, Kansas article: "An Officer Shot Dead: Deputy Sheriff Jesse Hendrickson of Round Pond, Ok. was shot and killed today a few miles from that town by two desperadoes named Charlie Neal and Frank Boynton. The murderers, it is alleged, have been doing a wholesale business in the theft of cattle and horses, and it was for the purpose of arresting them for this crime that Hendrickson and a fellow deputy named Paul Jones, went to their rendezvous this morning. The outlaws opened fire on the two deputies the moment they saw them and brought Hendrickson down at the first fire. Jones hastened back to twon and informed the comanding officer of the military, who sent out a detachment of soldiers to run in the criminals. After the murder Boynston and Neal saddled their horses and took flight in the direction of the Panhandle, from which place they expect to make their way to Mexico."
