I read and was told the notorious Clanton's of Oklahoma...Ed Newt, Herman and One-leg Clanton-1920-30s bank robbers, etc were related to Ike Clanton and Old Man of OK Corral fame..Both families did hail from Tennessee then Missouri..Ought to look into that connection...Maybe they shared a family criminal gene...

Another tie for Newman "Old Man" Clanton's line to Oklahoma comes from the Civil War time frame. His family was living in the Dallas Tex. area, Newman and his son Phineas served in a home guard unit; his oldest son John served in the 30th Tex. Cav. that served under General Gano in the Indian Territory. Some of this info. comes from the National Service's Soldiers and Sailors system: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.cfm ; and from the Civil War message board's Indian Territory page: http://history-sites.com/cgi-b..._config.pl?read=5241
